No matter where we sweep our problems/troubles we have, under the rug or under the house, they are still there. Unless we face the problems/troubles they will never go away. Some drink alcohol, use drugs or other things, to help them forget their troubles. The thing is, when they sober up, the problems/troubles are still there. All they did by doing that, was more than likely, added to their problems/troubles.
We go through many things in life, have many ups and downs. We can get through those things a lot easier when we let go of the things we are carrying and let Jesus carry it for us. We do that by letting go but we also need to spend time with Him. We do that by listening to Him, reading His Bible, and putting His word into action. In other words, having faith, trusting, and knowing He is there for us.
The thing is we must first realize that there is a problem and that is one of the hardest parts for some. They may have become so comfortable with some of it, they use the problems/troubles as a comfort blanket. It’s like the story about the person who cried out to God asking Him, “Why haven’t you done anything?” God’s reply, “How could I you never let go.”
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
