Three years ago we moved from one side of town to another. I worked hard to get everything done and up until like the last week of getting things moved everything was going well, then something happened!
A wren decided it was in love with the Rogue. I fought this wren every day, day in and day out. I would not sooner pull in the driveway and there was the wren, watching and waiting for apparently the love of it's life to come back. Sometimes I would not even get off the road or get close to the carport, there the wren was, on the door, looking through the window or looking at itself in the side mirror.
I have no idea where it came from or how the wren was able to get it to come into the city limits but it did!
I would jump out of the car run around to the other side of the Rogue shooing the wren away. I am sure the neighbors, if they saw me, thought I was going nuts. I finally got the idea to put towels on the side mirrors, covering the mirrors but that did not stop this little bird. It had fallen in love and no towel was going to stop it. It decided then to fly to the back window and and court the rogue.
Then something happen I would never have guessed in a millions years. It finally got mad enough at me putting the towels on the side mirrors that toward the last day or two of working there it decided to send in reinforcements.
I pulled into the driveway and went into the rental home. I forgot something in the Rogue so I came right back out. I could not have been in there more than a minute. I walk out onto the porch and opened the screen door and about fainted.
I was in shock at what I saw standing on top of the Rogue, standing as pretty as you please…. was a big TURKEY! A TURKEY!!
I couldn’t believe it! The first thing I thought is please don’t go the bathroom on the Rogue and the next was THE WREN sent reinforcements!
At first the thing did not want to get off the Rogue. I had to get right up to it to get it off and it flew off then disappeared. I have never seen anything like it! The rental house was in the middle of the city!
The funny thing was maybe within a week or so of moving into the mobile home, when I pulled out from the front entrance…. Guess what was in the field across the street? TURKEYS! Lots of turkeys! I thought, oh no, he told his buddies and they followed me! ROFL!!
This is a true story. It really happened to me. The photos are real and taken by me.
