The handwritten note she left behind…

A poem I was blessed to write for those who have lost someone they love.

She walked into her mother’s room, open the dresser drawer to get something for her mother’s service later that day. What she found was something that made her weak in the knees. Inside that drawer, underneath a few items, was an envelope with a handwritten note her mother had written to those she left behind.

“THE ONLY OTHER PLACE I WOULD WANT TO BE” by me, J. L. Russell, 7/10/2013.

Though I am gone, I see you from above, watching you share your love.

I see you enjoying your days with lots of laughter, joy, some pain and maybe tears that have not gone away.

I wish I could have stayed here on earth with those whom I love, but it was my time to be with Jesus and many others above.

I want you to know the feeling of sorrow is not what I feel.

All I feel is happiness, joy, and Gods amazing love.

I no longer know pain, nor deal with the world and its ways.

I am surrounded by angels, Jesus’ loving arms and it’s the greatest feeling that I have ever known.

Listen to what I am saying, enjoy your days with those who you hold so dear.

Let them all know you love them and please make this clear,

that the Lord loves them and wants them all to come here.

So don’t cry or feel sorry for me my dear.

I’m in heaven, the only other place I would want to be.

1 Corinthians 2:9 “As it is written, What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Song included, “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe.
