The past, we can’t change it, it’s the past! We may look back at it, glimpsing, thinking about it, but there is not a thing we can do to change it, because it’s the PAST! The Lord doesn’t want us living in the past. He wants us to live in the present! Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” He also tells us in Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
Three years ago, He blessed me with a dream. After waking up and having my quiet time with the Lord, I was given the meaning, the interpretation from God.
I was on this bright color speedboat. I was sitting in the back in the middle. There were 4 other people. : : > (Sitting like this) My best friend and sister in Christ, Pat, was up front to my right. Then there were 3 others. I could not tell you who the others were. There were handles that came up beside me like on an air-boat and I was steering the boat with the handles. We were flying all around on top of the water. Having fun, laughing, enjoying the ride. I turned the boat this way and that way, as we flew across, what was calm water. I then hollered, “Let’s go look at the old boat we had, it’s over there.” As we came up to it, we saw it was under water, and saw it was an old pontoon boat. I moved us around it; even though it was underwater you could see some of it then we took off and the dream ended.
As I was writing it down in my notebook, the Lord gave me the meaning! He is speeding things up for us, with and in Him! There will be others who will be going with us. The old boat is our old life. ITS COVERED BY HIS BLOOD! It’s the past, it’s covered, forgiven, redeemed, purchased by the blood Jesus, our precious Savior took upon the cross. It’s okay to glimpse at it now and then, but it’s over and gone, it’s the past! He now has a future for us! One that’s for Him and of Him, our God!
Wow! How awesome is that! The way He tells us things if we will just listen to and for Him. It reminds me of the verse where Jesus said, let the dead bury the dead. Luke 9:50 “Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” The past is gone. We can’t go back and change it. The second and minute that just past as you read this, you can’t change it, it’s gone.
Jesus died on the cross for us all! He did it for all, not just a select few. He bore our sins upon himself! He loved us so much that He died for us so we can have a choice to be with Him in heaven! Like the boat, the old self, that was buried underneath the water, covered by Jesus on the cross, the past, it’s gone! We are not to live in the past.
Whatever you have done in your past is gone once you have asked for and received His forgiveness. He no longer remembers it! You are forgiven, redeemed, and your sins were purchased by Jesus! Let go of it, the past! You cannot live in the past and the present at the same time! If you keep going back to what you did or what happened, you can never completely live in the present and future of what God wants for you! Don’t you want to be on the boat with Jesus? Don’t you want to be going across the calm water with Him?
Yes, in my dream I was sitting in the back steering the boat, but I know it’s not me doing it, its God, doing the steering! I let go a long time ago and gave Him full control of my life. He has the wheel now. Whatever God wants, is what I want and the old life I had, it’s gone. It may come up in conversation now and then. I may talk about it, what I have been through and where I am now, but I DON’T live there anymore! I have a new life, a new heart, a life that is totally His! I don’t regret and will never regret giving my life and my heart to God to do as He wills!
Thank you, God, for believing in me! Thank you, God, for blessing me with your grace, mercy, forgiveness and especially your LOVE! I pray many others find it also!
Those who know me well know that boats and water are not really my thing I like the mountains, so having a dream of a boat and going very fast in it, well, that’s not something I normally would do.
