In my early AM time with God this morning He blessed me with a vision.
I see a beach and see waves slowly moving in and out on the shore. I am then moved back a little and I see a castle built out of sand. As I watched, the waves start to make its way closer and closer to the sandcastle. As each wave comes up it slowly takes a little part of the sandcastle with it. In time, as more waves surround it, the sandcastle slowly starts to fall and before you know it, there is nothing left.
Then God showed me another sandcastle but this one was built on a firm foundation. It was solid and the wall around it, what protected it, was built solid. I watched as one wave after another came up, hit it, surrounding it, but then the wave went right back into the ocean. Leaving the sandcastle still there, standing strong.
I quickly understood what God was saying and two verses came to me. One says something about unless God builds the house, and the other is about the foundation of a house.
(Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.)
(Matthew 7:24-27 “So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods and torrents came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great and complete was its fall.”)
Our home, the main place where we spend most of our time, the foundation it is built on matters. If it’s built out of things of this world, in time, it will fall apart. If God is not a part of the foundation, if He has not built the house, if He is not first above all else, life troubles can slowly eat away at the foundation. Where all that is left is a pile of sand where the house once stood, or you see nothing at all. Without God being at the forefront; problems, troubles, life events, will in time make the foundation weak and in time, fall apart.
Whether we came to God early in life or came to Him later, God needs to be the main part of it. He needs to be the first thing we think about when we wake up and the last thing we think about before going to sleep. His Word, the Bible, needs to be a part of our everyday life. So, when problems, troubles and life events come at us, no matter how many waves hit us, we can and will withstand the storms.
